Bulk Edit Metadata allows selected metadata fields to be edited for ALL ITEMS or CHECKED ITEMS in an Album.
Fields with a colored, checked (ticked) heading will be updated. Fields without a colored, checked (ticked) heading will NOT be updated
In this bulk edit, only Title will be updated
In this bulk edit, Title and Keywords will be updated
After clicking OK you will be shown a confirmation pop-up listing the fields that will be updated, for example:
If no fields have colored, checked (ticked) headings, you will be shown a message like this:
If you see this message, make sure each field you wish to edit has a selected heading and try again.
Automatic selection of fields and a known issue:
When you start typing in a text field, the heading will be automatically colored and checked (ticked) which means that data that you enter will be applied.
When you select a value from a dropdown menu, the heading will be automatically colored and checked (ticked) which means that data that you selected will be applied.
When you select a value from a lookup list such as Vocabulary the heading will not be automatically select. You must manually click the heading to make it colored and checked (ticked). This is a known issue and will be corrected in a forthcoming release.
If there are different object types of items in the Album, e.g. images and videos, which have different metadata fields, Bulk Edit only updates the common fields existing in both object type items.
BULK EDIT METADATA IS DESTRUCTIVE - the data you enter OVERWRITES existing data.
Best practice is to download a CSV of metadata as a back up before performing any bulk edits.
